Peaceful, Timeless Eolia Mansion Wedding Music | Andrew & Sarita’s Pergola Ceremony

There are some venues that just stay with you and, for me, Eolia Mansion is one of them.

Not just because of the ocean views or the manicured English gardens, but because I got married there, too. I know what it feels like to stand out and overlook the pergola, hearing live music carry through the flowers, and to take those steps down the stone walkway and up the aisle. It’s personal.

There’s also something distinctly European about it—the symmetry of the gardens, the architecture, the vines encompassing the mansion and pergola. It feels more like an estate you’d stumble upon abroad than something tucked along the Connecticut shoreline.

So when Andrew and Sarita chose Eolia Mansion for their wedding, I already knew and felt the experience they were stepping into. Their Eolia Mansion wedding was thoughtful, grounded, and built on connection: how the day would actually feel for their guests.

A Pergola Ceremony at an Eolia Mansion Wedding

Their Eolia Mansion wedding ceremony took place at the Pergola, arguably the most recognizable location at Harkness Memorial State Park. It’s open, yet intimate, evokes European estate vibes, and naturally draws focus without needing much added to it.

The Pergola sits right at the edge of the park, which is part of what makes it so striking—but also what makes it active. Just beyond the ceremony space, you’ll often have families, celebrations, and weekend activity happening in real time. It’s not a sealed-off estate, and that’s important to understand when planning the experience.

That’s exactly where experience at Eolia Mansion matters. We approach ceremony sound design differently here. We factor in ambient noise, open-air acoustics, and how sound travels through the Pergola so the focus stays exactly where it should—on the ceremony. The goal isn’t just amplification, it’s clarity and presence, so every moment still feels intentional even in a live, active environment.

Our string quartet started with prelude music that blended classical music with romantic ballads, which works especially well for an outdoor Eolia Mansion wedding where guests are arriving gradually. It allows the atmosphere to build in real time. The couple requested Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran as well, so it was woven into the set seamlessly alongside classical selections.

The officiant welcomed guests, and the processionals began.

The wedding party and family processed to Can You Feel the Love Tonight from Disney’s The Lion King, which felt warm and familiar. Then, Sarita walked down the aisle with her mom to Turning Page by Sleeping at Last. This song is becoming a fast favorite and works beautifully for a wedding ceremony at Eolia Mansion because it is so cinematic and builds naturally.

The newlyweds recessed to This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), met with the cheers of guests, carrying them into cocktail hour.

Designing the Flow of an Eolia Mansion Wedding Reception

One of the advantages of an Eolia Mansion wedding is how seamlessly the event can move from ceremony into cocktail hour and reception.

For Andrew and Sarita’s Eolia Mansion wedding reception, overlooking the waves of the Long Island Sound, guests meandered from the Pergola through the gardens and over to the waterfront lawn. Our string quartet took center stage overlooking the garden, which allowed the music to travel clearly across the space without competing with conversation.

That kind of placement is key for live music at an Eolia Mansion wedding. It’s less about volume and more about direction and presence.

Cocktail Hour Music at Eolia Mansion

Their cocktail hour was designed as a continuation of the experience, with music chosen to include everyone. We layered in romantic ballads, classic jazz, disco, throwbacks, Bridgerton, and classical music (the groom’s favorite and special request).

This approach works particularly well for an Eolia Mansion wedding cocktail hour because the setting naturally invites movement and conversation. Guests recognize songs, then realize they’re hearing them in a brand new way. That moment of recognition pulls people in without interrupting the flow. In fact, it adds to the energy.

The Role of Classical Wedding Musicians in Connecticut (and Beyond)

At a venue like Eolia Mansion, live music isn’t background. It shapes the whole experience.

Working with classical wedding musicians in Connecticut who understand both performance and production makes a noticeable difference, especially in open-air settings like the Pergola and waterfront.

Eolia also tends to draw couples planning from outside the immediate area—New York, Boston, and beyond—which is why having a team that can approach the day with both local expertise and a destination-level perspective matters.

What Made This Eolia Mansion Wedding Work

Weddings at Eolia Mansion are always beautiful, but the most memorable Eolia Mansion weddings are the ones where every decision connects and flows.

For Andrew and Sarita’s Eolia Mansion wedding:

  • The ceremony had a clear emotional progression

  • The recessional created real momentum

  • Cocktail hour felt like a continuation that built, not a separate event

Nothing felt added for the sake of it. Just well-placed, intentional choices.

What Couples Say

Andrew and Sarita wrote us the kindest review on Zola:

"Ariana Strings was amazing to work with from the very beginning. From our first inquiry to our Zoom calls to pick the right package, Ariana made everything so easy and organized. She sent reminders, questionnaires, and covered every detail to make sure the music was absolutely perfect for our day. Every time we hopped on a Zoom, I left feeling confident we had made the right choice. We were married on 9.13.25, and having Ariana and her team there truly made the day feel magical. The addition of their production manager was such a bonus — everything was timed seamlessly, and it gave us complete peace of mind. Our guests are still raving about the music and how it added the most special touch to the day. We couldn’t be more grateful to Ariana and her team for helping make our wedding unforgettable." - Sarita & Andrew

Planning Music for Your Eolia Mansion Wedding

Planning an Eolia Mansion wedding comes with unique considerations—from open-air acoustics to guest flow across the property—which is why music and production decisions play a much larger role here than at a traditional indoor venue. If you’re planning your own Eolia Mansion wedding, the space already gives you a strong foundation.

What matters most:

  • choosing music that translates well live

  • thinking in transitions, not just individual moments

  • using placement strategically within the space

When those elements are aligned, the entire day feels cohesive and special without needing to be overworked or second-guessed. Andrew and Sarita’s wedding is a clear example of how an Eolia Mansion wedding can feel when everything is working together—natural, structured, and easy in the way it unfolds.
